What is the difference between a used Access licence and the purchase of a new licence?
When you buy a Microsoft Access licence, you acquire the right to use the software for an unlimited period of time. It does not matter whether it is a used Microsoft Access licence that a previous owner no longer needs and has therefore legally sold to Soft & Cloud, or a new licence from Microsoft. In both cases, the right to use the respective software is sold. Therefore, the only difference between a used and a new licence is the price - and this is significantly lower if you buy a legal used Access licence.
Access 2021, Access 2019 and Access 2016 in comparison
At Soft & Cloud, you can choose between three versions of Access licences. Access 2019 introduced the new BigInt data type, which makes the programme more compatible with SQL servers. dBASE file support has also been introduced and 11 new diagrams for visualising data have been integrated. If you attach particular importance to accessibility, you should purchase a licence for Microsoft Access 2019 to benefit from Windows speech output and other assistive technologies.
With the current Microsoft Access 2021 version, you can add tables with just a few clicks and use the updated Table Link Manager. Microsoft has also introduced the new "DatesTime2" data type and improved the SQL view.
Access 2024 is the latest version.
Buy used Microsoft Access - cheap and secure
When you buy used licences for Access from Soft & Cloud, you will only receive audit-proof original licences - for which we assume liability. The secure licence transfer, which is crucial for the legal re-use of used licences, has been certified by TÜV for the fifth time in a row. Soft & Cloud is thus a pioneer in the secure, legal and legally compliant handling of used software licences.
On-premise or cloud
Microsoft sells its Office programmes for private users as a subscription model, for which costs are incurred each month. The cloud-based versions, which are offered under the Microsoft 365 label, require a constant connection to the internet and can be used on all devices - mobile and stationary. This means that Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Access are available to you online - but only on a subscription basis, i.e. only for as long as you use and pay for the subscription.
With the so-called on-premise version, which Microsoft offers, among other things for commercial customers, an Internet connection is only required for the one-off Microsoft Access download. You can then install the programme locally on your computer and use it at any time without incurring any ongoing costs. Another advantage of the on-premise versions is that you store all your data and documents locally and do not have to transfer them to the cloud, which increases data protection. And last but not least, the locally installed version is significantly cheaper than the subscription model, especially if you don't need any or only a few other Office applications apart from Access. This is because instead of monthly fees, with a used licence you acquire the right to use the software for an unlimited period of time, and with the current version Access 2021 LTSC you also have the right to support and updates.
