Buy used licences for Microsoft Windows Server 2019 at a low price

Microsoft Windows Server 2019 is the fastest version of the server operating system and is based on Windows 10, making it currently the most widely used operating system for servers, helping companies of all sizes to modernise their IT infrastructure and virtualise server capacity, for example. Microsoft Windows Server 2019 makes it possible to provide IT resources and services centrally, such as the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8, which is compatible with Windows Server 2019, or Microsoft Edge for Windows Server 2019.

Features of Windows Server 2019 at a glance

With the Active Directory directory service, Microsoft Windows Server 2019 enables the secure and convenient management of user data in the company network. IT resources can be efficiently distributed and made available in the network via Active Directory, which reduces administrative effort during setup and maintenance thanks to the familiar graphical user interface.

The server operating system offers unlimited Windows Server Containers, a Host Guardian Service and Storage Replica as well as a Storage Migration Service, which makes it quicker and easier to migrate data, e.g. to the cloud, so that other systems can also access it. Windows Server 2019 also provides a higher level of security for company data and systems, for example with Windows Defender ATP (Advanced Threat Protection). This enables companies to proactively recognise threats and initiate appropriate countermeasures. The network protection of Windows Server 2019 prevents and isolates attacks on the network, making a decisive contribution to reducing business risk and preventing security breaches.

Other features of Windows Server 2019 support companies in developing cloud-native applications and making them available company-wide. This makes it even easier for companies to utilise modern technologies such as containers and microservices and benefit from all the advantages of cloud technology.

What is the difference between a used Microsoft Server 2019 licence and buying a new licence?

With pre-owned licences for Windows Server, you can significantly reduce the cost of using the server software without having to accept any compromises or restrictions in terms of performance, functionality or security. Used licences for Windows Server 2019 allow the legal and full use of the software and also entitle the buyer to receive the free updates and patches provided by Microsoft and to downgrade.

At Soft & Cloud, you only receive used original licences from Microsoft, which are transferred to the new buyer in a process certified by TÜV IT. This means you can save up to 70% on licence costs when using Windows Server 2019 and other Microsoft software, allowing you to use the latest IT applications to optimally support and secure your business processes at a particularly low price.

A comparison of licences for Windows Server 2019

Microsoft offers Windows Server 2019 in two different editions: Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard is aimed at companies that virtualise on a small scale and require a powerful server operating system that offers advanced features in terms of data security. Companies with higher virtualisation requirements can use Windows Server 2019 Datacenter, which includes additional functions and security features, e.g. Shielded Virtual Machines, Storage Spaces Direct and software-defined storage and networking. Unlike the Standard Edition, you can operate any number of virtual instances with Windows Server 2019 Datacenter.

Both editions are licensed on a core basis, so there is no longer a CPU limit for the server hardware. Instead, every physical processor with at least 8 cores and every physical server with at least 16 cores is counted and must be licensed with a corresponding number of core licences. In addition, Zugriffslizenzen (CALs) is required for Windows Server 2019, which you can purchase either per user (User CAL) or per device (Device CAL). To access devices or users via Remote Desktop Service, you must also purchase additional RDS User or RDS Device CALs for Windows Server 2019.

On-premise or cloud - Windows Server 2019 is always particularly secure

The Centre for Internet Security (CIS) has published benchmarks for Microsoft Windows Server 2019 in which basic security requirements can be configured. These are internationally recognised security standards for protecting IT systems and data from cyberattacks, which are used by thousands of companies.

Windows Server 2019 also provides a wide range of functions to secure company data and prevent unauthorised access to virtual or physical servers. The system is based on the solid foundation of Windows Server 2016 and has been significantly improved, particularly in the area of security.

The cost of licences depends on which edition (Standard or Datacenter) you use, the hardware on which you install the server operating system, and the number of users or devices for which you require a client access licence (CAL). However, with used licences from Soft & Cloud, you can always save up to 70% on licence costs without any restrictions in performance or security.

Several rulings by the European Court of Justice and the Federal Court of Justice have made it clear that software licences may be sold under certain conditions and reused by a new buyer to licence software. At Soft & Cloud, we rely on a transfer process certified by TÜV, thus ensuring that our used licences are 100% legal.

Windows Server 2022 is the more recent version of the server software and offers improvements in terms of data security and numerous new features, among other things. Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard also has an earlier end of life (EOL) than the 2022 version, meaning that the new version will receive updates and patches for longer.

Microsoft offers its server software in two editions: Windows Server 2019 Standard is aimed at companies with low virtualisation requirements, while Windows Server 2019 Datacenter enables unlimited virtualisation and also offers numerous additional security features.

Windows Server 2019 can be evaluated free of charge for up to 180 days in the Microsoft Evaluation Centre. After that, you must purchase and verify a sufficient number of server and access licences to continue using Windows Server 2019 legally.
