Functions of Exchange Server 2016 at a glance
Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 is primarily used to manage incoming and outgoing emails. These are routed centrally via the Exchange Server and forwarded to the correct recipients. Filters and intelligent recognition routines reliably filter out spam and other unwanted emails, thereby increasing the productivity of your employees.
In addition, an Exchange Server manages internal and external contacts, calendars and appointments as well as tasks that can be assigned to both individual users and groups of users. This allows you to efficiently plan meetings and appointments or track the completion of tasks, for example.
New functions to protect against data loss and an improved version of the web-based Outlook client have been integrated into Microsoft Exchange Server 2016. This simplifies work on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets as well as on the web thanks to the revised interface. Thanks to a new and simplified architecture, automated repairs and faster recovery, Exchange Server 2016 offers even more security and reliability.
As part of the extended support, Microsoft also supports Exchange Server 2016 with security updates and combines older updates into Cumulative Updates (CU). CU23 is the latest version for Exchange Server 2016 and contains all previous updates and patches. These are released approximately every six months, although Microsoft also publishes a Security Update for Exchange Server 2016 CU23 earlier if required - most recently the Exchange Server 2016 CU23 Mar24SU (Security Update).
